It has been a while since the last regeneration of the shoegaze scene in Malang City, East Java, Indonesia and now Hallway has taken the baton with a bit of emo aesthetic. Citing bands like Nothing, Slow Crush and Superheaven, Hallway offers all the elements that their influences have to offer with a touch of social issues of Indonesian youth, especially Malang City youth.

The EP “A Void Reality” contains 6 tracks covered in wet reverb as if walking in a knee-deep puddle on your way home, forcing you to walk but full of obstacles and heavy steps. Vinnory aka Cim (guitarist/vocal), Wildan (Bassist/Vocal), Andrian (guitarist/vocal), and Dimas (drummer) have poured all of their gloomy aura sonically in a thematic EP about the disappointment of missed expectations. The 6 songs in this EP are designed as the soundtrack of an automatic life waiting for a light who knows when will arrive.

Most of the production of the EP "A Void Reality" was done at Yanto's house because at that time his house was still some kind of temporary warehouse for the musical instruments of his circle of bands and side-projects. It was also projected that Yanto’s house would become a collective rehearsal studio. Then all the Hallway personnel tried jamming and building beat on a whim that never occurred to him that this would be Hallway's inaugural EP shoot. The EP, titled “A Void Reality” is also a manifestation of Hallway's introspective journey exploring themes of sadness, loneliness, and anger through its poignant lyrics and ethereal sonic landscapes. The EP “A Void Reality” features plenty of sinking yet dreamy vocals, dreamy guitar riffs and dynamic drum beats. Everything is built from a cathartic exploration of the human condition.

"Broadly speaking, "A Void Reality" describes a condition when reality fails to meet our expectations. In the end, the existing reality is half heartedly endured without passion, in an empty soulless way. The days are lived in void and autopilot.” Wildan explained the overall theme of their first EP.
